The Most Common Side Effects of Xarelto

Xarelto, the brand name of a generic drug named rivaroxaban is a blood thinning drug that is used for the prevention and treatment of major blood internal blood clots. The drug is efficiently used to treat pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The drug is very commonly used by people undergoing knee or hip surgery as it prevents the blood from clotting during the process of surgery. It is also used as a drug that could help you prevent strokes caused during atrial fibrillation.

However, as the Topic is xarelto, there are many undesired effects of the drug that can sometimes diminish the positive effects of the drug. The most common side effect of Xarelto that most people encounter is ableeding complication that mostly causes them to move away from the drug. Bleeding complications can be sometimes minor that can be cured within hours but sometimes they can be major and can give rise to complications like hemorrhage.

People who are on other drugs that might affect the blood thickness, like aspirin, anticoagulants, and NSAIDs are more susceptible to have a bleeding complication than people who don’t take any other drug. There are reports that people can suffer from intense internal bleeding which could be fatal in some cases for the person.

Furthermore, apart from the bleeding complications, there are other negative responses and side effects of Xareltoas well. Some people suffer from minor problems, like unexplained itching, muscle spasms, and many other problems, while others suffer from more serious problems, like nausea, fainting, and other stuff.

If used after a spinal injury, there are very serious side effects of Xarelto. It may give rise to spinal hematoma, which refers to buildup of blood in the space present in the spinal cord. This may result in the spinal cord getting compressed that could lead to major problems. However, this is a rare disorder that only happens to people that have prior bleeding disorders.

The drug is strictly prohibited to be consumed by pregnant women as its side effects haven’t been studied yet. However, there are cases when the drug is prescribed to some pregnant women when it’s seen that the benefits of the drug for their body are greater than the risks associated with it. But generally, it’s not recommended for pregnant women as nobody knows how it might affect the body of the mother as well as the fetus.
